News Roundup #8
News Roundup has had a bit of a hiatus over the summer, but it’s back now with a nice load of BIG news! There’s something in here for everyone, so I hope you enjoy!
First of, the cover for Chris d’Lacey’s final novel in The Last Dragon Chronicles was released on his blog a couple of months ago. I’m a big fan of the series, and loved Fire World, which was published early this year. The Fire Ascending will be published in April 2012.
This month, there’s also been another cover reveal from Veronica Roth, author of the fabulous Divergent. The sequel, titled Insurgent, will be published next year, and the cover looks even better than that of Divergent! I think the whole book world is buzzing for the release of Insurgent, which will be publishing in May 2012.
Dan Wells (author of the fantastic I Am Not a Serial Killer), too, has some news on his latest novel- Partials– which is a dystopian which sounds thrilling. He released the cover of Partials on his blog. The blurb for this first novel in the trilogy has also been released:
The human race is all but extinct after a war with Partials—engineered organic beings identical to humans—has decimated the population. Reduced to tens of thousands by RM, a weaponized virus to which only a fraction of humanity is immune, the survivors in North America have huddled together on Long Island while the Partials have mysteriously retreated. The threat of the Partials is still imminent, but worse, no baby has been born immune to RM in more than a decade. Our time is running out.
Kira, a sixteen-year-old medic in training, is on the front lines of this battle, seeing RM ravage the community while mandatory pregnancy laws threaten to launch what’s left of humanity into civil war, and she’s not content to stand by and watch. But as she makes a desperate decision to save the last of her race, she will discover that the survival of humans and Partials alike rests in her attempts to uncover the connections between them—connections that humanity has forgotten, or perhaps never even knew were there.
And finally, Cat Patrick, author of Forgotten, has revealed the title of her next novel- Revived, which will hit shops in May, according to her blog post.
What do you guys think of the covers? Are you excited for the releases? Which ones are you particularly looking forward to?
